Everything a bidder needs, in the order it is usually needed.
Before you bid
- Auctions explained — how the two methods differ and which suits you
- The buying process — what happens from browsing to completion
- Buyer Information Packs — what the legal pack covers, and what it does not
- Fees explained — what you pay on top of the hammer price
When you are ready
- Registering and bidding — identity checks, increments and extensions
- Browse the catalogue — live and upcoming lots
Common mistakes
Budgeting on the guide price. The guide is a starting indication, not an estimate of the outcome and not a valuation.
Registering on the day. Checks take time. A registration submitted an hour before close will usually not be approved in time.
Skipping the special conditions. They are where the unexpected costs live.
Assuming a survey can undo a bid. It cannot. Inspect before bidding, not after winning.
